About Michèle
Passionate and creative since childhood, Michèle had a need to
understand the concept of her environment. She always believed that
there had to be a better way to create everything. Innovative and
creative, she built gorgeous gowns out of bed sheets and houses out of
boxes. Who needs toys when you have two hands and a vision!
By the age of twelve, she wanted to become an architect. She drew on
every piece of paper she could put her hands on. Houses ended up being
replaced by clothing. Designing fashion was more rewarding because she
had access to fabric. By the age of fifteen, she had enough designs to
wallpaper her entire house. She decided that it was time to create
something. She taught herself to sew, and soon made all her own
clothing.
By the age of 21 she started to design and build furniture. As
interesting as this was, she needed more. There had to be a more
creative and artistic way to design and build all those things.
Two years later, she got hired at the Sudbury Theatre Centre, sponsored
by the YMCA for the first six months of her employment. She tripled the
amount of hours required for the program and proved herself. There she
was, age 23, no theatre background, with only an ambition and a dream
which she worked hard to achieve. Determined, she started in September
2004 as the wardrobe assistant and ended in April 2005 as the Head of
wardrobe. The next year was even better. She finally got to design the
costumes for two main stage productions, 2 theatre for young audiences
productions and one fundraiser. By the end of that year, she was
transferred into the prop department and given the opportunity to
build Audrey II, star of Little shop of Horrors. One experience she
will never forget.
Michèle's contract with the Sudbury Theatre Centre ended the 11th of
April 2007. She is now seeking new opportunities.
